Hopkins was an all steel 48 seater dining car built by the Victorian Railways, in 1927, for use on the Melbourne to Ararat section of "The Overland" and also on the "Sydney Express".
It was sold to the Commonwealth Railways in 1950 and classified "DB 75. At tis time it was air-conditioned and used on the Trans-Aust Express and later the standard gauge "Ghan" connection. It was written off during the first half of 1968.
