Built at Islington workshops between 1936 and 1937 by the South Australian Railways classified as "second class main line corridor passenger cars", seating 64 passengers. They were fitted with plain bearing bogies.
Members of the 600 class were also known as: BKL 3, BH 1, Bowmans, Brunswick, Clarence, Corangamite, Glenmaggie, Lauriston, Richmond, Tweed, Wedgwood, Wendouree, Wilsons.
