An inventory of all Rollingstock on the North Australia Railway was taken by the Commonwealth Railways on 2nd May 1951. The inventory contains a large number of wagons that have numbers that don't seem to appear anywhere else. Some comments are made to various wagons having come from other system. It appears likely that the wagons ran with the original system numbers and Commonwealth classifications as this was originally done with the locomtives obtained from Western Australia and Queensland. In earlier entries, the same file also shows a number of vehicles being written off that don;t seem to fit into the normal numbering system.
