GQ Open Wagon -- GQ 2423 to 2442

Mechanical Handling Ltd (S.A.), Woodville, was awarded contract No.3348 to construct 20 open wagons in 1971. They were classified "GQ" and allocated road numbers 2423 through 2442 for use on salt traffic. Around 1975 they were all converted so as to be bogie exchangeable and recoded "GQX".
